The dust hasn’t settled just yet….

The dust hasn’t settled just yet….

Some people have suggested that the Jewish people have ditched a literal view of the Old desert sandTestament due to lack of historical evidence. I was provided this National Geographic article by one Jewish author who denies that’s the case. He says that while that may be true in some circles its certainly not true for all Jews – it seems the dust hasn’t quite settled on that debate…

  1. What a superb article. Thanks for this.

It certainly illustrates that the world of Jewish Archaeology has an almost Pop Idol feel to it, especially when you see who is sponsoring what.
Finkelstein gets a 5 mil grant! Phew.

I think the National Geographic like to sell articles like other media and a bit of sensationalism never hurt their sales figures, right? But to say Finkelstein is soon going to be buried? Hmmm….you want to put money on it?

If history is anything to go by, it is not on the side of those who favour a high chronology and by and large the Finkelstein camp is still in the driving seat. I don’t buy that he is on the defensive. I have listened to a couple of videos and I reckon he is this way with everything.
This seems to be a journalist stoking the fires.

As someone who tends to put common sense in front of pretty much everything before making any call, of i has to go with biblical leaning supporters of archaeology and Finkelstein I would bet money on Finkelstein any day without a seconds thought and the odds would be good enough that I would likely win.

    We’ll wait and see, right?
    Thanks again…
